2 Corinthians 5:8
but we are of good courage and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.
It is what made Paul fearless. He was not afraid to die. He had something else to look forward to and it wasn’t this world.
As apostle John wrote this world is passing away. There are only two things that last, the human soul and the Word of God. These are the things to invest in.
Paul was not clinging to this world. Hanging on to the world takes you away from the Lord, takes away from the hope and peace given you.
The Bible says to set your mind on things above and not of this world. If this world is all that you have look forward to it will rob you of your peace and hope. You will do whatever you can in the name of self-preservation. The only one that can save you is Jesus Christ.
Only Jesus can restore what was lost in Eden. When He establishes His kingdom, at the end of the tribulation period, there will be perfect justice and peace.
For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sakes. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith, so that your pride in Christ Jesus may be abundant because of me by my coming to you again.
